A new semester

Today was orientation for the teaching staff of my department at Kyung Hee University.  The new semester starts on Monday, September 3, 2012.  Today the campus was packed with parents and students moving into the dorms.    My department had a tasty Korean style lunch together with a hundred side dishes on the table for all twenty of us.  (I love Korean side dishes! I ate nearly all the roasted Kimchi.) I'm so thankful to God for opening the door for me to work at this University, not only for the great lunches with colleagues, but also because I believe it is God's perfect plan for this season of my life.  I'm excited to see His work unfold here transforming hearts and lives.  Classes start on Monday!

She did what she could when she could....

I love the heart of Jesus that is revealed in these Bible verses.  While the religious people around this woman were accusing her and giving her a hard time, Jesus comes to her defense and honors her.    He recognizes her heart and He demonstrates His heart of love for those who are often judged or ridiculed by religious people.  Jesus is not religious. He is love.    I love how He moved in a different spirit from the popular culture of the day. He elevated this woman in a society which did not recognize or give honor to women.    He even went so far as to say that what she did would be remembered as long as the good news of His love was told.    I admire this woman who "did what she could, when she could",  and I love this man Jesus, who demonstrated the love of God in all He did.
